Higher quality hospitality options in smaller cities

“This process is being driven by second- and third-tier cities that have seen above-average economic progress,” says Ricardo Mader.

In recent years, the economy in the North and Northeast of Brazil has grown faster than the national average. This has sparked major changes in the hotel network in these regions. Hospitality options that were previously not very professional and based on establishments with inadequate and outdated infrastructure have been gaining in quality.
Ricardo Mader, director of JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality area for South America, explains that this process is being driven by second- and third-tier cities that have seen above-average economic progress.

This growth has increased the presence and travel of executives working in these locations. Today, several brand name hotels that offer a lot of technology and convenience at a reasonable price are meeting part of this demand and offering a service that is even comparable to that found internationally,” Said Mader.

The fact that technology makes a real difference can be seen in the concept of handling reservations, check in and check out by phone or app without having to stand in line. This is offered to guests at Doispontozero Hotéis (literally, Twopointzero Hotels), which operates in the budget segment under the Zii brand.

It is in our DNA to provide these services in the virtual environment. We want to be a new generation of hotels for a new generation of Brazilians, generation Y,” explains Julio Gavinho, president of Doispontozero Hotels.

Gavinho says that quality services must also be present in the hospitality itself, with the hotel room offering a good shower, a high-definition TV and a good breakfast.

Doispontozero currently has hotels under this brand – built or under construction – in places such as Parauapebas (PA), where the Vale mining company has its largest iron-ore mine, Boa Vista, Rondonópolis (MT), Pouso Alegre (MG), Campo Grande, Três Lagoas (MS) and Caucaia (CE).
